This Bengaluru traffic cop went beyond his call of duty after he learned that the youths he had penalized for not complying with traffic rules were rushing to the aid of a friend who was in need of A+ve blood.

Last Tuesday, Lokesh K, a traffic head constable attached with Kumaraswamy Layout Traffic Police Station was busy managing traffic during the evening rush hour. Little did he know that he was going to help offenders by donating blood that evening.

Talking to The Logical Indian, Lokesh said that while he was on duty at Sarakki junction, he saw two youths on a bike, approaching him. However, the pillion rider was without a helmet. Lokesh immediately stopped their bike and issued a challan of Rs 100.

Only after the duo paid the fine, is when Lokesh learned that Udhay and Dhanush, students of New Horizon College in Marathahalli, were rushing towards K S Layout on their friend’s two-wheeler to arrange for A +ve blood for an ailing relative of their Physical Ed. teacher.

Dhanush and Uday were going to the blood bank to arrange for A+ve blood by exchanging O+ve blood. They did not have A+ve blood which was needed for the surgery. This is when Lokesh decided to help them by donating his blood. When the duo learned that Lokesh has A+ve blood group which he is willing to donate, they directly went to the hospital.

Lokesh said, “They needed A+ve blood, and since I have the same blood group, I decided to chip in.” Talking about his deed, he said that sometimes, it feels good to do something selflessly.

After informing another senior officer at the post, Lokesh followed the duo on his bike to Sagar Hospital.

His act of selflessness earned a lot of applauds, not only from his supervisors but also from the Bangalore City Traffic Police wherein a tweet they wrote, “Serving, Care, and Compassion, and Will to help others is BCP policy.”

The Logical Indian Take

Lokesh’s act of kindness not only restores our faith in humanity but reinforces the fact that humanity lies above all. The traffic police constable has no business helping out those offenders, but he still chose to do so. The Logical Indian applauds his act of generosity.
