In an ugly turn of events, the two hundred protesters who were protesting in front of RSS headquarters in the honour of the deceased Hyderabad Central University student Rohith Vemulawere were mercilessly beaten up by the Delhi police and by the few activists of RSS. Delhi police didn’t even spared the Media people who were covering the protest. They broke the camera and attacked some of the media personnel. Things got worse when RSS activists also joined the police in attacking the protesters as seen in the video.The protestors were mercilessly chased by lathi wielding cops, who did not even spare the girls. A cop even groped one of the female protestors.
A brazen collusion between the attackers and the police has raised serious questions over the neutrality of the administration who in turn are in charge of the law and order situation. From FTII Pune to Delhi, it is highly condemnable that student protests have been handled with high handedness and less sensitivity. For a democracy to thrive, neutral administration and police are pivotal something which was found lacking here during this protest.
