On September 27, police had raided a hotel room in Gorakhpur, where three guests travelling for business, two hailing from Gurugram and one from Kanpur, were checked in. Manish Gupta, the deceased, was reportedly beaten up by the police and his friends in the hotel on questioning the raid. The group of six policemen are on the run, and an FIR has been lodged.
