On March 8th, India began evacuating stranded Indian nationals from Ukraine's Sumy to Poltava under Operation Ganga. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri declared that the evacuation process for Indian students in the city had begun and that they were being transferred to Poltava. The International Committee of the Red Cross, Ukrainian authorities, and Indian embassy officials accompanied Indian citizens from Sumy to Poltava city in a convoy of roughly 12 buses.
