A massive fire broke out on 31st January evening at grassland in Kanjurmarg area, where a metro car shed/depot is slated to be built, the fire caused low visibility on the eastern express highway (EEH), which slowed down the traffic on the entire stretch of EEH. According to the Disaster Management Unit (DMU) of BMC, the Mumbai fire Brigade deployed four fire engines at the site where the fire spread across a 1000x1000 sq. ft area of grassland.
