Varun Alva, an assistant police sub-inspector with the Mangalore police, chased and caught a robber who had snatched away a mobile phone from a man who was resting. On January 13, the incident occurred when the victim, Yogi, shouted for help. A police team, including Alva, was at the spot, and Alva ran after the thief and caught him. Later, the Mangaluru city police commissioner announced Rs 10,000 cash reward for Alva and complimented him.
