Kazakhstan's President ordered security forces to fire without warning amid a violent crackdown on anti-government protests. Thousands of protesters on Thursday took to the streets in the country's largest city, Almaty, a day after breaking into the presidential residence and the mayor's office. The White House said it would be watching for human rights violations in Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, the Kazakh government resigned, succumbing to the mounting pressure from the protestors.
