22 crew members were saved by the Indian Coast Guard on 6 July from a merchant ship that was sinking off the Gujarati coast of Porbandar, an official reported. The ship had left from Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and was on its way to Karwar, Karnataka. When there was a sudden, uncontrolled flooding onboard, it prompted the crew to initiate a distress call. The ICG received a distress signal regarding flooding onboard the merchant vessel Global King-1. According to reports, the ship was 185 kilometers offshore of Porbandar. Instantaneously reacting, the ICG informed all stakeholders involved.
