On March 11th, Mathura and Vrindavan began their Lathmar Holi celebrations. A significant number of men and women took part. Lathmar Holi is celebrated in Barsana, Mathura. Holi is not just a one-day event in Vrindavan and Mathura, and Braj Ki Holi is the popular name for the festival. The Holi celebrations are well-known in Braj, the land of Radha and Krishna. The area on each side of the Yamuna river, with Mathura and Vrindavan in the centre, is known as Braj or Brijbhoomi.
