The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), swept the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections on Sunday, winning 58 of the total 60 wards, while the main opposition party, the Congress, came up empty-handed. In the largest northeastern city, the BJP won 52 seats while the AGP got six.
