73rd Republic Day Parade To Be Delayed As Homage To J&K Security Personnel Who Lost Lives In Line Of Duty

In what will be the first time in 75 years, the Republic Day parade in India will not start at the usual scheduled time of 10 am but will begin 30-minute later.

In what will be the very first time in 75 years, the Republic Day parade in India will not start at the usual scheduled time of 10 am but will begin 30-minute later due to COVID-19 restrictions and also as part of a homage towards Jammu and Kashmir security personnel who died in the line of duty.

As per a senior police officer, the Republic Day parade every year used to begin at 10 am sharp, however, this year it will start at 10.30 am instead.

Furthermore, he stated that the delay in the start is due to COVID related restrictions and right before the beginning of the parade, a homage will also be paid towards the security personnel who lost their lives in Jammu and Kashmir as well.

A Heartwarming Gesture

"The parade ceremony will be 90-minute-long like last year, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial near the India Gate. Later, contingents will March past. Tableaus will be showcased representing cultural diversity, social and economic progress during the parade," he has been quoted as saying by Business Standard.

Furthermore, the officer also said that Tableaus will go to Red Fort and are set to be parked over there for public display. However, marching contingents will stop at National Stadium.

Amid the COVID-19-related restrictions, artists who are performing in Cultural events on the Republic Day event are prohibited to meet anyone. They will be travelling in sanitized vehicles and will be kept in isolation to avoid getting infected, he added.
