Mukesh Singh And Gaurav Sharma Win Gold At World Powerlifting

Mukesh Singh Gehlot and Gaurav Sharma have won gold medals in their respective categories at the World Powerlifting Championship held in England. Mukesh Singh Gehlot in 125kg raw and Gaurav Sharma in 140kg+raw aced the championship and made India proud of their achievement.


Mukesh Singh Gahlot from Kakrola Village, New Delhi started bodybuilding at the age of 19 after getting inspired by family and friends who themselves had sports background. Mukesh has national records of winning Mr.India title 4 times. He also won a gold medal in 2013 and became the world champion for the second time by bagging gold again in 2016 world powerlifting championship. Gaurav Sharma hails from New Delhi and started his training under the expert guidance of Dronacharya Awardee Bhupendra Dhawan, international coach Powerlifting and bodybuilding, as reported by Times of India.

Vaibhav Rana and Kanwardeep Singh bagged silver in their respective events. Vaibhav Rana ace at 125 kg Raw and Kanwardeep Singh made it to 110 kg Raw. In the competition, there were ‘Raw’ lifting and ‘Classic’ lifting meant equipped or unequipped. Equipment is a supportive bench shirt or squat/deadlift suit or briefs, as reported by The Hindu.
