Indian Sand Artist Sudarshan Pattnaik Bags Gold Medal At Moscow Championship

Renowned Indian sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik was awarded with gold medal at the ninth Moscow Sand Sculpture Championship “The magical world of sand” 2016. Pattnaik bagged the award for best composition, for his 15 feet high art work “Mahatma Gandhi’s sculpture for nonviolence and peace”.

The competition was held at Kolomenskoye in Moscow from April 21 to 27, where 20 best sculptors from different countries competed for the championship. This is not his first though. He has participated in more than 50 national and international sand sculpture championships and has won many accolades. Pattnaik is also won the Padma Shri in 2014, which is the fourth highest civilian award in the country.
