Delhi Govt Ties Up With 41 Private Hospitals To Provide 30 Life-Saving Surgeries For Free

The residents of Delhi will not have to wait for months to undergo life-saving surgeries at Delhi government hospitals. To their relief, the state government has tied up with 41 private hospitals so that people can get 30 surgeries free of charge for patients referred by government hospitals in the city.

The government hospitals would reimburse these National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) – accredited hospitals at Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates for the complete treatment, including pre-surgery consultation, surgery, medicines, food and hospital stay, and also follow-ups for a month after discharge.

Presently, the patients waiting for surgeries have to wait for anywhere between three months and two years. The tie up with private hospitals is expected to reduce the backlog in the hospitals.

Though patients from all income groups can avail this service, it is restricted to the residents of the city. They have to provide a residence proof to — voter id, Aadhaar card, driving licence or birth certificate — to avail this service.

30 Delhi government hospitals will be allowed to give referrals for these surgeries except a heart bypass. Only the GB Pant Hospital will be the sole authority of heart bypass.
