Police atrocity goes to a whole new level as 28-year-old Aditya Dongare was ruthlessly beaten up by the police inside Tulinj police station in Vasai, Maharashtra without showing any proper reason on the night of June 10.
The incident unfolded when Aditya was leaving from his friend’s house close to 1 am in the morning. Two other friends also were leaving the place at the same. Aditya bid goodbye to them as they started their motorbike and left and he himself was heading to cross the road. At that moment, an overspeeding car came cruising and stopped in front of the bike. A middle-aged man came out of the car frantically and slapped one of Aditya’s friend who was on the bike. Aditya was heading the opposite direction when he saw this happening. He immediately rushed to the place to see what is happening. When he asked the person why did he slap his friend, the man slapped Aditya too and in self-defence, he pushed the man away.
Till now, Aditya had no clue who the man could be when suddenly a police in his uniform came out of the car and caught his neck. He informed that he is Sub-Inspector (PSI) Shivde and the other person is also a police personnel in civil dress and both of them started beating Aditya with rods. They pulled him up inside the car and took him to Tulinj Police Station. Mr. Shivde ordered other police officers to beat him brutally. He sat and watch Aditya being beaten up by rods and belts continuously for three-four hours.
In the morning, PSI Shivde left Aditya after signing some documents and taking Rs 5,000 from him. Aditya reached home traumatised. He had to get hospitalised for two days. Infuriated by Aditya’s condition, his parents went to register an FIR against Mr. Shivde to many police stations, everyone refused to file the complaint. Resolute to take action, Aditya’s family has been sitting on a dharna since June 14 in front of the office of Additional SP. Their only demand is to register an FIR against PSI Shivde. Aditya’s family has forwarded several letters to higher authorities, but everyone seems to turn their deaf ears into the matter.
The Logical Indianurges our community members to share this post and support the family of Aditya who has been a victim of Police atrocity. We urge the state government to set up an enquiry and if found guilty, take stern steps against PSI Shivde and show that no one can escape from the reach of the law.
