The Tamil Nadu elections as expected went to the wire and Jaya emerged victorious in the battle royale for the post of Chief Minister. The drama did not end there, there was a grand ceremony which ensued the victory. To the surprise of many, Stalin the face of DMK in recently concluded elections had made it to the ceremony and was allotted a seat in the back back rows. Much to the disdain of DMK patriarch who had criticized the seating arrangement for the potential leader of opposition in the Tamil Nadu state assembly.

But then diplomacy took over
In the midst of rising criticism, Jaya issued a public statement stating there was malafide intent in the seating and the officers were just following protocol. She had also thanked Stalin for making it to the swearing in ceremony and clarified that if she had been notified earlier about his potential arrival for the ceremony she would have made specific arrangements for the same. The message of Jayalalithaa ended with a call for working together for the development of Tamil Nadu. This is in addition to the fact that Stalin had taken to social media wishing her good luck for her second tenure as Chief Minister.

The Logical Indian wholeheartedly welcomes this camaraderie shown among political rivals in Tamil Nadu. The positive effects of such civil discussion and team work unites people who have largely been divided on political lines given the bitter rivalry between the political parties. We thank the premiers of both political parties to have raised the standards of discussion and in a way uniting people. We hope other political parties across India set such examples and increase the standard of discussion.
