#BreakingTheStereotype: Woman Gives Shoulder To Cop Husband's Body, Daughter Lights The Pyre

An incident has come into light from Rajasthan on Sunday where a woman gave a shoulder to her cop husband’s body. Surpassing all the traditions Anju Yadav carried the death body on her shoulder and let her daughter Lochan lit the pyre.

Her husband Rakesh Yadav was a head constable with the Gujarat police, and while he was on duty, he suffered a heart attack and then he passed away. His body was then taken to his hometown Shivdan Singh Pura, Alwar, Rajasthan. Even when there were many people to bid him goodbye, Rakesh’s courageous wife stood forward and carried his corpse on her shoulders. Rakesh’s elder daughter Lochan lit the pyre as he didn’t have a son.

Everybody was moved to tears with this gesture and saluted her vigour. Anju Yadav showed that the hollow traditions could be deified if one has the courage to do so. As per the Hindu tradition, a woman does not carry a dead body for cremation or lit the pyre, but kudos to the spirit of Anju Yadav who challenged such nugatory custom and stood as an epitome of strength and valour.
