UP: Youth Beaten, Paraded Naked By Girl's Family After Found Eating With Her At A Restaurant

In another display of lawlessness in Uttar Pradesh, a 22-year-old youth was brutally assaulted and paraded naked by his girl friend’s family on Tuesday evening. As per reports, the couple were at a restaurant in Aryapuri colony in Muzaffarnagar when few of the girl’s relatives reached the scene, dragged the youth outside and started attacking him. He was beaten and his clothes torn off as the commotion made way to the district hospital one kilometre away from where the girl’s father Virpal works as a ward boy.

The girl’s family alleged that the youth was trying to harass and molest the girl and that is why her brother and another male relative reached the scene to confront the boy. The boy denied these allegations and said the girl is his friend and they have known each other for some time.

The local police arrived at the scene, but by the time the issue had escalated into a battle between the girl’s family and the boy’s friends and family who had rushed to the hospital in his aid. The police managed to break the fight and escorted them out of the hospital where tensions remained high. In a video, people fighting in hospital premises can be seen, and the youth can be witnessed being led by the police to the police station.

According to police officers, three FIRs were filed against dozens of people, including the man and the girl’s father.

The Times of India reported the statement given by circle officer Harish Bhadori: “Investigations are in progress. We have booked the youth and others under sections of IPC including 354 B (use of criminal force on a woman with intent to disrobe) and sections of SC/ST Act. The girl’s father, family members and associates have been booked under section 355 (use of criminal force with intent to dishonour person) of the IPC. Hospital authorities have filed a third case against everyone involved in the violence, for disturbing the peace in the hospital.”

This highlights how difficult it is in our country for a couple be together. The family has alleged the boy was molesting the girl and an FIR has been lodged again the victim too. How much more time do we need to understand that it is okay for a boy and a girl to be together or it is nobody’s business to interfere in the relationship between two consenting adults.
