Less than six months to go for the Rajasthan assembly election, and the fault lines within state BJP leadership is showing. On Monday, Rajasthan BJP rebel leader Ghanshyam Tiwari tendered his resignation from the party, although he will continue to be part of RSS. He says, there is “undeclared emergency” in the state and the country, and he is ready to fight against it.

The six-time MLA, Ghanshyam Tiwari, and the Rajasthan government were at loggerhead for over a year now. Tiwari has been questioning Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje’s government on several issues including farmers’ plight in the state, demands of reservation for the upper caste and corruption.

He claims that the Rajasthan government is just fooling the people of Rajasthan in the name of development. “This government is cheating the people of Rajasthan for 4 and half years. Ministers in the state are looting the people by getting new legislation every other day,” he said while talking to The Logical Indian.

“Undeclared Emergency is more dangerous than actual Emergency. I have fought against the Emergency at the time of Indira Gandhi. I was beaten up, sent to jail but I still stood up for the country. This time, I am tendering my resignation from the party (BJP) to fight against it,” he added.

According to him, he has also informed PM Modi about the corruption that is going on in the state but the PM did not do anything about it.

Last year Tiwari had alleged that the Rajasthan BJP has become a place for mafias and sycophants, while loyal and qualified people were being sidelined. After that, the BJP’s national disciplinary committee issued show-cause notices to him in 2017.

In a letter written to BJP President Amit Shah, Tiwari holds Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and the central leadership responsible for his decision.

On Monday, BJP observed a ‘Black Day’ against the Emergency declared by the Indira Gandhi-led government on June 25, 1975.

Taking a dig on that move, he said, “It is good that the BJP government is observing a black day for the emergency. Though imposing emergency is now not possible, it is worth mentioning that the country is going through a phase of undeclared emergency for the last four years.”

Tiwari, a six-time MLA and two-time minister, won the last election from Sanganer assembly constituency with a margin of over 60,000 votes. He will be fighting the assembly election from Sanganer seat under the banner of Bharat Vahini Party, a party founded by his son. He also says that the doors of the outfits are open for like-minded leaders.
