“We had a problem with our neighbours regarding the boundary wall. They used to threaten us, even late at night and also used foul language. I had filed a complaint at the police station regarding the matter,” Josana said.

The incident occurred on January 18 when seven CPM activists allegedly entered into the victim’s house and thrashed Josana’s husband over a land dispute. She tried to protect her husband and the attackers allegedly kicked her in the stomach. According to the report by NDTV, a land dispute between the neighbours. Josana had called the police 15 minutes before the attack seeking help.

“I started bleeding and was in immense pain. My husband rushed me to a hospital where the doctors informed us that there was a blood clot in my placenta, following which they had to conduct an operation on February 2. The doctors gave us our dead baby, whom we cremated in Mavoor. Even then their threats did not stop,” the victim told Times Now.

The incident came to light when Josana and her husband started agitation in front of the Kodancherry police station on Wednesday, demanding the arrest of the accused.

The woman told India Today that the two men threatened her telling they would kill her, and some CPM leaders asked her to exclude Thampy from her complaint. “But I am firm on my decision, I will go forward till I get justice,” said Sibby, the pregnant woman’s husband to India Today.

The CPM leaders kept a distance from the incident telling that it was only a private dispute. BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan said that even babies were not safe in wombs and party workers were ruling the state.
