Hyderabad: BJP Gen Sec Forged Nirmala Sitharaman’s Signature Promising Govt Job, Booked

On Tuesday, March 26, a criminal case was registered against BJP’s National General Secretary P. Muralidhar Rao and eight others for deceiving a Hyderabad based realtor by collecting ₹2.17 crore using forged signatures of Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

What had happened?

The complainant, Talla Pravarna Reddy stated that she and her husband, Talla Mahipal Reddy had developed an acquaintance with Eswar Reddy, a journalist who claimed to be closely associated with some of the eminent BJP leaders. In 2015, Eswar Reddy approached the couple, saying that he knew A. Krishna Kishore who is very close to BJP’s General Secretary P. Muralidhar Rao and that he would help anyone get a government job.

Even after the couple refused the offer, Eswar Reddy along with Kishore, local BJP leader Manda Rama Chandra Reddy, Hanumantha Rao, S. Chandrashekhar Reddy, Baba and Srikanth pressurised them to accept the proposal and pay Rs 2.17 crore after which they would be able to get nominated membership of Pharma Exil, which comes under Union ministry of commerce and industries, reports Times Of India.

Talla Pravarna Reddy said, “After they collected the money from us, they showed a photocopy of an appointment letter purportedly signed by Nirmala Sitharaman, and told us that my husband will be appointed as a chairperson of Pharma Exil.”

However, with the delay in process, the couple demanded their money back but P. Muralidhar Rao threatened them. Afterwards, a BJP leader promised them to pay their money back and even gave them signed cheques but the couple never got their money back, reported The New Indian Express.

The complainant T. Pravarna Reddy, approached the court through a petition. So based on the complaint, Saroornagar Police registered the case under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 468, 471 (forgery), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 156 (3) of CrPC.

The police stated that the complainant later approached Eswar Reddy and Ramchandra Reddy, but both of them dogged the issue and didn’t respond.

According to Times Of India, P. Muralidhar Rao quashed the allegations and said that the complainant called him three years ago related to the same matter. After which he told her to file a complaint but she didn’t. He said that he knows some of the accused as part of his work. However, he has nothing to do with the case or money.
