Dehradun: School Authorities Hide Body Of Minor Boy After Some Students Kill Him Over Stolen Biscuits

Authorities of a school in Dehradun stealthily buried the body of a 12-year-old student, after he was beaten to death with cricket bats and wickets by seniors. Vasu Yadav, a boarding school student, was buried inside the campus in order to hide the details after doctors declared him dead. The school houses around 400 students.

What had happened?

It was revealed that after Yadav was beaten up by class XII students of the same school, there was a delay in rushing him to the hospital. Seniors who were around 19 years old allegedly tortured the boy and later poured cold water on him, suspecting that he stole a packet of biscuits while they were out. Beaten up and left in the classroom, he was spotted by the warden a few hours later.

“Not only was the boy taken very late to hospital that led to his death, but the staff members also tried to hide the incident and did not report it to police. He was beaten up in phases in the afternoon, while he was taken to hospital in the late evening,” SSP Dehradun Nivedita Kukreti told The Times of India.

The chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Usha Negi, said that the incident occurred on March 10 but they were informed about it only on March 11, following which they visited the school. When they reached, the body had already been buried, and the boy’s parents, who live in Hapur, had not even been informed that the child had died.

The two boys who killed Yadav have been booked under section 302 (murder). A case has also been registered against the hostel manager, warden and sports teacher under section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Logical Indian take

The brutal hacking of the boy has left the education fraternity of Dehradun numb. It is harrowing to see that seniors, who are often looked up to by younger kids in the school, engaged in such a heinous crime over a petty issue like stealing biscuits.

What is worse is that the incident reveals the ugly mindset of the school authorities. Instead of ensuring that the perpetrators are punished, they thought hiding the body of the deceased is a better idea. A school, which is supposed to raise children into good human beings, crushed humanity under their feet to protect the reputation of the institution. The school authorities are no less involved in the crime than the boys who killed Yadav are.

The Logical Indian condemns the incident and urges authorities to take strict action against the accused.
