Amidst heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, the Army and Air Force on February 9 airlifted a pregnant woman in critical condition from a hamlet in the Kishtwar district of Jammu division. Responding to a call, Army troops rushed to the village of Nawapachi and carried the woman on a stretcher through snowfields. The IAF flew a MI chopper to Nawapachi and airlifted the woman to the district hospital in Kishtwar for specialized treatment. The people of Nawapachi expressed gratitude towards the Army and the IAF, and some of them also raised slogans praising the two forces.

As many as 25 students of BC Girls Hostel in Kothavalasa of Vizianagaram district fell sick and unconscious due to suspected food poisoning on February 7. The girl students began experiencing complications after eating jaggery-based peanut bars and tamarind rice for breakfast. While some students suffered from vomiting, others fainted on their way to the school. They were quickly shifted to the nearest Government Primary Health Centre. As per available information, out of the 25 students who fell sick, seven girls became seriously ill, prompting the authorities to shift three to Srungavarapukota Primary Health Centre and the remaining four to Pendurthi Primary Health Centre.
Lakshadweep will soon be eligible to get amenities like telemedicine, distance learning, and other benefits of connectivity as the Optical Fiber Cable laying ship reaches Kavartti from Kochi. Currently, the medium for telecom connectivity to Lakshadweep is through satellites, which offer bandwidth limited to 1 Gbps. The government has taken the initiative to provide ample bandwidth through dedicated OFC to improve the telecommunication facility at the Islands. The ancient river, Mula-Mutha, has turned into a sewer and a dumping site over the years. The neglected river is heavily polluted and filthy. The foam formation is due to industrial discharge by industries in various areas under the jurisdiction of Maharashtra industrial development corporation (MIDC), inside PCMC limits. Dr. Nitin Mokashi, medical officer at Yashwantrao Chavan memorial hospital, said, “If the water that contains foam comes in direct or indirect contact with humans, it can cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, skin problems, headaches, and several respiratory illnesses. These industrial effluents are oncogenic and responsible for cancer, especially in small children.”

The indiscriminate garbage burning by squatters dumped at Thakur Village Kandivali, Mumbai, has caused concern among the residents and road users, who urge the corporation to intervene immediately so that garbage is disposed of properly. Residents said that burning plastic waste in residential areas led to the release of toxic gasses affecting all, particularly elders and children.

Itchoo needs transportation services as there is no road to this village, and one has to take a trail from Barsoo village after reaching Barsoo from Sankoo by the Barsoo Road and NH 301. There is no rail or air connectivity to Itchoo, and the nearest airport is Leh, located at a distance of 300 kilometers.
With cotton prices ruling lower than last year, cotton farmers in Telangana have decided to hold State-wide protests, demanding ₹15,000 a quintal. The discontent over low prices is widespread, and hundreds of farmers engage in dharnas. Farmers stocked thousands of quintals of cotton in their homes across villages in the hope it would fetch higher prices in the near future. The central government has announced Rs.6,380 as MSP for cotton. Farmers hope the cotton prices will be increased soon by the central government.
