A picture of a dead body with ants crawling on its open eyes in a hospital’s morgue in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district has led to the suspension of five doctors, including a surgeon.

The man has been identified as 50-year-old Balchandra Lodhi, a patient of Tuberculosis who was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday morning. He was declared died after five hours reported NDTV.

Ramshree Lodhi, the wife of Balchandra, said, “I went home on Monday evening. I got the information about my husband’s death on Tuesday morning. When I reached the hospital, I found ants crawling on my husband’s eyes. I removed the ants. The hospital staff should have taken care of my husband’s mortal remains, but they didn’t.”

Shivpuri collector Anugraha P said, “An inquiry has been ordered against the civil surgeon PK Khare, duty doctor Dinesh Rajput and three nurses, who have been suspended.”

Chief medical health officer (CMHO), Shivpuri, Dr AL Sharma said, “This is an unfortunate incident. Other patients told us that they informed the duty nurses about ants crawling on the face of the deceased, but they didn’t listen to them. It is a case of negligence, and we won’t allow such dereliction in the duty.”

After seeing the grisly image Chief Minister, Kamal Nath took to Facebook and informed that an inquiry has been ordered in the matter.
