More Bats Than Leaves Seen On The Branches Of Tree In Assam
A Twitter video shared by Nandan Pratim Sharma Bordoloi on February 10 shows a tree in Numaligarh, Assam, has become a place of refuge for endangered bats who have made it their home.
Although these bats have been driven close to extinction, they have found shelter in the mighty tree they have made their own. Passersby cannot help but stare at the clusters of bats dangling from the branches of the mighty tree. A rare sight indeed!
Ladakh: Itchoo Villagers Carry Patient On Foot Due To Lack Of Road Connectivity & Medical Facilities
People of the remote and far-flung village of Itchoo, Kargil, carried a patient named Yasin (24) on a bed & walked 8 km on foot to provide him with medical facilities. Itchoo residents have been demanding road connectivity to the village.
Itchoo needs transportation services as there is no road to this village, and one has to take a trail from Barsoo village after reaching Barsoo from Sankoo by the Barsoo Road and NH 301. There is no rail or air connectivity to Itchoo, and the nearest airport is Leh, located at a distance of 300 kilometers.
Telangana: Fall In Cotton Prices Spark State-Wide Farmer Protests
With cotton prices ruling lower than last year, cotton farmers in Telangana have decided to hold State-wide protests, demanding ₹15,000 a quintal. The discontent over low prices is widespread, and hundreds of farmers engage in dharnas.
Farmers stocked thousands of quintals of cotton in their homes across villages in the hope it would fetch higher prices in the near future.
The central government has announced Rs.6,380 as MSP for cotton. Farmers hope the cotton prices will be increased soon by the central government.
Andhra Pradesh: Nearly 25 Students Suffer Food Poisoning After Having Breakfast In BC Hostel
As many as 25 students of BC Girls Hostel in Kothavalasa of Vizianagaram district fell sick and unconscious due to suspected food poisoning on February 7. The girl students began experiencing complications after eating jaggery-based peanut bars and tamarind rice for breakfast. While some students suffered from vomiting, others fainted on their way to the school. They were quickly shifted to the nearest Government Primary Health Centre.
As per available information, out of the 25 students who fell sick, seven girls became seriously ill, prompting the authorities to shift three to Srungavarapukota Primary Health Centre and the remaining four to Pendurthi Primary Health Centre.

A video shared by Indian Forest Services (IFS) officer @susantananda3 on Twitter, has made people think about how we are endangering wildlife. In the video, a wild tiger can be seen waiting by the side of a road for vehicles to pass, before hurriedly crossing over and disappearing into the wilderness. “This is how far the ‘development’ has taken our wildlife,” Mr Nanda wrote in the caption of the post. “This is so sad and risky. Why can’t underpasses be made? What if he gets hit by some speeding vehicle in the night?,” commented one user.
