Social media has become an immensely important part of our culture. Millions of apps, websites, and other platforms are available these days for people to communicate over the internet these days. This is, indeed, the age of social media.

Whether it be updating status on Facebook, uploading videos on YouTube or cracking a joke within 280 characters, we all spend a lot of our time on the internet. Social media is something which allows us to connect with people all around the world. For instance, one can just compose a message on a forum like Facebook or Twitter and share it with anyone in the world.

Recently, The Logical Indian came across an incident which left us in awe of the power of social media.

The admin, Aditya Vaibhav, of the page “Our Rajamahendraaverman,” in the city called Rajamahendraverman of Andhra Pradesh, said to The Logical Indian, “My father Mr. Raja Gopal saw a homeless man, Simhachalam, aged around 60 years, suffering on the footpath.” According to the locals, the homeless man has been living on the footpath for more than five years. No one bothered to pay heed to his well-being, unless one day he injured his leg, and was helplessly lying on the same footpath.

His leg was so brutally injured that Simhachalan couldn’t even perform his daily chores by himself. Mr. Raja Gopal appointed a nurse to help Simhachalan with his routine work. Aditya told The Logical Indian “We contacted a few political leaders and asked for help. But, after seeing no relief from any section of our society, we published a post on our social media page ‘Our Rajamahendraverman.’ Soon after the post went live, we started receiving messages to seek contact with the helpless for help”. Then, one such political personality, Mr. Kandula Durgesh, and volunteers of his charity organization named ‘Sravanthi Voluntary Organization’ along with Mr. Gopal successfully transferred Simhachalan to a government hospital. Simhachalan is under treatment and medications currently and is recovering from the injury.”

We, at The Logical Indian, commend the power of social media and make a humble request to all readers to always grant a helping hand to the one in need. There are many Simhachalans on various roads of the country. Let’s all make a collective effort and try to help the best we can.
