Fact Check: Is Mukesh Ambani Donating Rs 500 Crore For Construction Of Ram temple In Ayodhya?

A photo of Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of the Reliance Industries(RIL) and Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is going viral with the claim that Mukesh Ambani’s family is donating a huge sum of ₹500 crores to build Ram temple in Ayodhya.

 

Also, a week back there was a similar claim that the renowned Tirumala Tirupati Balaji temple will be donating Rs 100 crore for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya was circulating on social media.

Claim

  1. Viral photo of Mukesh Ambani with Yogi Adityanath, with a claim of Mukesh Ambani donating Rs 500 crores for the construction of Ram temple.

     2. Tirupati Balaji temple is donating Rs 100 crore for the Ram temple construction


Fact check

For the first claim, after doing the reverse image search on google we get to know that the photo is not a recent one. It is dated at around 2017. The same image was used by The Times of India and Danik Jagran for their respective articles on 23rd December 2017.

The image was taken for the Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit that was supposedly held in February. Also, there is no report and no official confirmation from the Ambani or the UP CM regarding the donation.

For the second claim, 

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) told the fact-checking site Boom Live that the news is fake. They told that there is no announcement from the Tirupati temple to donate Rs 100 crore for Ram temple in Ayodhya. 

 “In reply to your email, above message is truly false. As of now, TTD doesn’t take any official decision for donating amount to Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,” the Tirupati PRO was quoted as saying to Boom Live.
