As we approach the end of 2018, and with the upcoming 2019 general election, there have been a few incorrect pieces of information have made their way to social media. These chatters include Modi disrespecting BJP senior party leader Lal Krishna Advani, UP Yogi CM claiming to protect cows and not girls, among others. However, the authenticity of these claims is unknown to many. The Logical Indian would try to throw some light on these claims in order to debunk these claims.

Did PM ignore Advani?

For a long time now, there have been rumours going around about the rift between PM Modi and veteran leader L. K. Advani. To support the claim there have been a few videos and pictures that have gone viral. In one of the pictures, Modi and Advani are standing opposite each other. The picture suggests that Modi ignored, or even worse, disrespected the party veteran leader Advani, reports The Quint.

The image shows Advani standing with folded hands in front of PM Modi, while the PM is standing with his hands clenched behind his back. This picture has been circulating with scores of narratives.

Many people also took on to Twitter to express their views on the picture.

As reported by The Quint, the image is taken from a function where along with Advani other BJP party leaders like Amit Shah were also present. The function was to inaugurate a commemorative coin in the honour of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The full video of the function is available on the BJP’s YouTube channel. In the video, Modi can be seen greeting Advani.

Towards the end of the video (15:10-15:20), when the function ended Modi and Advani can be seen interacting. PM Modi is also seen greeting Advani with a ‘Namaste’ after which he folded his hand.

Did Adityanath say he will protect cows and not girls?

This is not the first time when Uttar Pradesh Cheif Minister Yogi Adityanath has surrounded himself with controversy. Recently, he is getting flak for a “newspaper clipping” that is being circulated which quotes him saying that his government’s job is to protect cows, not girls.

The picture is from a Hindi newspaper that says, “Yogi Aditynath ka ek or gair zimedarana bayan, kaha ki hamara kaam gaye bachna hai, ladkiya bachna nahi (Another irresponsible statement by Yogi Adityanath, he says our job is to protect cows, not girls.)

This picture was also posted on a few social media sites. The picture was also published on a Hindi and Marathi news website Mulniwasi Nayak. The website posted the picture saying that the story is based on a “viral video and social media reports.”

This “news” is an old one which was debunked by Lallantop on April 18. However, this same “news” has made way to social media again. The Lallantop article says that the picture is from RHumor Times, which also carries a disclaimer about it being a satire website. The article also had a screenshot of the original article.
