Ashish Ambasta was a usual guy who completed his MBA and started his PhD in ‘Happiness in the workplace’. “While pursuing my PhD, I realised that there was too much of negativity around us. But on the other hand, there were beautiful things. So, it got me thinking that why do we not see the good things and only focus on the negativity,” says Ashish recollecting his PhD days.

Ashish comes from a small city in Jharkhand called Dumka. He used to live in a joint family. “My uncle used to work as a bank clerk in one of the nationalised banks. In June 2014, he suffered a heart attack and unfortunately passed away,” he laments.

During his funeral, Ashish noticed that hundreds of people had come to pay their condolences. He was a little surprised to think that an ordinary bank clerk would have so many mourners. On talking to some of those people, he realised that his uncle, who he thought was an ordinary bank clerk, had done remarkable work.

Ashish said “I realised that he had impacted so many people that they had to come and pay their respect. That is when I thought of SEEtalks.” He wanted to set a platform for the voices of ordinary people who made remarkable influences in other people’s lives.

SEEtalks

SEEtalks is a platform for bringing such stories to life and make people realise that ‘Dreams do succeed’. SEEtalks shares stories about human potential. It creates a community that can enhance human potential via peer learning and facilitates collaborations between social changemakers, innovators, heroes and startup community across the globe. It brings to the forefront hidden and unheard stories of entrepreneurship and inspiration and together celebrates a life full of possibilities.

The first such talk was hosted on June 16, 2016. “We got 16 speakers from different parts of the country. They spoke about what they do, their personal struggle and how they overcame the difficulties that life threw at them,” says Ashish.

Ashish says with SEEtalks we think that we are influencing people. “On the third year of our event, we gave a small token of awards to these individuals. It was because we wanted to tell them that they should continue doing what they are doing. Somebody is taking notice of their good deeds,” he added.

Influential Stories

SEEtalks share inspirational stories from different walks of life that have changed the way we perceive our present and our future. The aim is to present stories that inspire action! “We had Sarbjit Singh, who runs roti bank in Shimla speak to us. He also provided ambulance to 5000 people in Shimla, who could not afford or access ambulances, on his own,” Ashish says. Ashish believes that the stories if brought out for people to see would have a positive impact on the world.

To the readers of The Logical Indian Ashish says “I feel this is the need for the country, very soon a lesson around humbleness will be taught to people, through this students will understand that intent of doing good to others, this movement will get very strong moving forward.”
