Anuj Ramatri, founder of EcoFreaky and popular content creator known as An EcoFreak, is spearheading a green living revolution across India through engaging digital storytelling and affordable zero-waste products.

From Corporate Filmmaking to Environmental Awakening

In an era dominated by rapid consumerism and climate anxieties, transitioning to a sustainable lifestyle often feels daunting, expensive, and out of reach for the average citizen. However, Delhi-based content creator and filmmaker Anuj Ramatri, widely recognized by his digital moniker “An EcoFreak” is rewriting this narrative. With over 181,000 Instagram followers and a growing digital audience across platforms, Ramatri has turned environmental consciousness into a vibrant, accessible, and cool movement for young India.

Ramatri’s journey into sustainability was not born overnight but cultivated through childhood observations. Raised in a family where reuse and mindful consumption were second nature, he began questioning the environmental costs behind everyday products as he grew older. He realized that simple items like paper tissues contributed to deforestation, while leather products were tied to animal exploitation. Equipped with a background in filmmaking and advertising, Ramatri initially created corporate ad films and comedy shorts. Yet, he felt a deeper calling to use his storytelling skills to deliver a meaningful message that could inspire real societal change.

Storytelling That Inspires Action

In 2020, Ramatri launched his digital platform to demystify green living. Rather than adopting preachy or alarmist tones, he chose to make sustainability digestible, fun, and easy to execute. Through short, creative reels and engaging video series, he began highlighting local eco-warriors, showcasing innovative recycling techniques, and offering simple swaps for single-use plastics. His content quickly gained widespread traction, resonating deeply with students, young professionals, and eco-conscious citizens seeking practical guidance.

To ensure long-term behavior change, Ramatri focuses heavily on actionable solutions rather than mere awareness. By demonstrating how easily everyday items like plastic toothbrushes, liquid shampoo bottles, and synthetic sponges can be replaced with biodegradable alternatives, he removes the intimidation factor from eco-conscious living. This focus on practical, incremental steps has helped his audience build sustainable habits that fit naturally into urban lifestyles.

Launching EcoFreaky: Solving the Affordability Gap

As his online community grew, Ramatri noticed a critical barrier preventing people from adopting sustainable habits: price and accessibility. While viewers were eager to buy eco-friendly products, many alternatives on the market were exorbitantly priced. Responding to feedback from his audience, Ramatri founded EcoFreaky in 2022, officially launching the e-commerce marketplace in early 2023.

EcoFreaky acts as a bridge between conscious consumers, local farmers, small artisans, and eco-focused startups. The platform offers a curated range of zero-waste personal care items, home decor, stationery, and kitchenware such as bamboo toothbrushes, natural ridge gourd loofahs, coconut-fiber cleaning scrubs, and bamboo cutlery, at prices starting as low as ₹24. To stay true to its zero-waste philosophy, EcoFreaky ships orders using repurposed cardboard boxes and includes personalized handwritten notes on recycled paper.

National Recognition and Unwavering Vision

Ramatri’s dedicated advocacy has earned him widespread national recognition, including being featured on Forbes India’s Digital Stars list, winning a RAD Creators Award, and receiving the ‘Planetbuddy of the Year 2025’ title from the Global Sustainability Alliance by ET Edge (Times Group). He has also shared his insights as a TEDx speaker, encouraging individuals to embrace small, incremental changes rather than striving for unattainable perfection.

Through EcoFreaky and his creative channels, Anuj Ramatri continues to prove that saving the planet is not about complete sacrifice, but about making mindful, everyday choices that collectively protect our shared home.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

True environmental stewardship requires breaking down the economic and cultural barriers that make green choices seem like an exclusive luxury. When sustainability is demystified through creative storytelling and backed by affordable zero-waste alternatives, climate action becomes a collective community habit rather than an individual burden. Influencers like Anuj Ramatri demonstrate the immense potential of digital platforms when harnessed for ecological good. By empowering citizens to support local artisans, reduce single-use plastic reliance, and make small lifestyle shifts, society can build a resilient, circular economy anchored in everyday mindfulness.

How can civic authorities and retail ecosystems better support local eco-enterprises to make plastic-free alternatives accessible in every neighborhood store?
