Beware: Hyderabad Municipality Plans To Impose Fines On People Who Throw Garbage

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to impose strict actions for improving the cleanliness standards of local roads. On Wednesday, the municipality decided to impose fines on those who throw garbage on roads. To function efficiently, the public body will make use of the installed CCTV cameras to retrive the footage and identify the guilty.
Even after distributing two dustbins to households and deploying vehicles to collect the litter from the houses, the city roads were being littered without any pity.

Despite several complaints from residents, tons of garbage continues to get piled up on the roads of plush areas like Marredpally, Kukatpally etc. Not just dumping, but there is also frequent garbage burning that emits hazardous gases, leading to health issues. 50 per cent of garbage consists plastic dumps. To end this, 400 Swachh Hyderabad teams have been engaged to clear the garbage off the streets.

Kolkata is one city, where the municipality have installed garbage compactor units at different places, to stop garbage littering everywhere. Installing such machines in different states in India can be a good systematic way to prevent the spread of garbage.

The Logical Indian appreciates the efforts taken by the Hyderabad municipal corporation and hopes that other municipal bodies across the country will also learn from this example. We also appeal to our readers to act responsibly and not throw garbage on the road.
