In a government hospital in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, the doctors after performing sterilisation operations on 45 women, did not arrange for proper beds for the patients. They were left to lie in the open, reported Nayi Duniya.
The place where the women were made to lie down was extremely dirty and unhygienic. Only after the family members of the patients complained to the hospital authorities,they allowed the women to rest in beds of the surgical wards.
It was pointed out to the authorities that the place where the patients were compelled to lay down were susceptible to infections. It is essential for the patients to rest after the sterilisation operation is done. But the district hospital at Morena was not ready with any amenities for the patients.
The family members added that they were told that this measure was taken because the patients would be asked to let go after sometime.
Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Saxena reportedly said that there were no proper beds available for the women to rest in. The patients were laid on the ground as a stop-gap measure till the beds were arranged for them.

The sterilisation scene in India is abysmal with lack of appropriate facilities in the camps where they are being carried as well as the amenities they should be providing to the patients.
In a horrible incident in 2014, 11 women had died and over 50 were hospitalised with 25 reported to be critical following surgery for laparoscopic tubectomies at a government-run camp in the Bilaspur district of Chattisgarh.
4 health officials were suspended and the Director of Health Services had been transferred by the Chief Minister Raman Singh.
The Logical Indian urges the concerned authorities to look into the matter and provide better healthcare facilities in the country – it is appalling to come across situations when patients are made to lie down in unhygienic conditions after operations.
