A 50-year-old man from Tamil Nadu has been sentenced to four life terms for raping his teenage daughter two years ago. The girl was impregnated as a result.
The Mahila Court judgement by justice Balakrishnan means that the man will remain imprisoned till death.
According to the prosecution, the father had raped his daughter after gagging her and tying her limbs inside the house when her mother went away, reported Hindustan Times.
Further reports included that the father threatened her several times to not tell anyone about the rape. Reported to be a heavy drinker, the 50-year-old man continued to rape his daughter for several days.
It was only in March 2017 that the girl realised she was pregnant when she developed stomach pains.
After constant questioning by her mother, she revealed that it was her father who raped her. The mother immediately registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO).
The teenager gave birth to a baby a few weeks later.
