“I am 23, a student. Just like any other ambitious person anywhere, I aim to seek different experiences and learn from them. I have worked with refugees in Azerbaijan and with homeless children in Nepal. I am a young Indian aspiring to avail opportunities painfully and rightfully earned. Recent incident of being denied one in Canada based on a wrong assumption that “I would not return back to India” screams discriminatory attitude and layers of apathy. Despite repeated attempts, the authorities’ whimsical decision stands unchanged. I have an Internship Opportunity I cannot go for because I was not issued a Visa. I deserve to go anyplace, just like any other “First-world” Citizen does and not be scrutinized and shamelessly disgraced of wrong accusations based on my nationality. Through this medium, I hope to raise my voice towards the injustice and seek closure.”
