A man’s family dispute turned into a shocking act of arson in Maharashtra’s Beed district when he allegedly set fire to his brother-in-law’s hotel in Takli Shivara, Kej taluka. Tanaji Ramdas Gaikwad, the accused, reportedly carried out the act amid escalating domestic tensions.
The fire caused severe damage estimated between ₹70,000 and ₹80,000, leaving the victim’s business in ruins. This incident reveals the disturbing consequences of unresolved personal conflicts spilling into public violence, prompting legal action and police investigations.
Blaze Destroys Hotel Amid Family Feud
On the night of September 15, 2025, Tanaji Gaikwad allegedly set ablaze the hotel owned by his brother-in-law, Asaram Kadam. The hotel, located on the Ahmednagar–Ahilyanagar Highway at Takli Shivara, suffered extensive damage as fire gutted the paper shed, deep freezer, refrigerators, tables, chairs, water jars, and other essential items.
Fortunately, no individuals were physically harmed in the blaze, but the destruction severely affected Kadam’s livelihood. Kej taluka police officials confirmed the damage valuation at approximately ₹70,000-80,000 and registered a formal case of arson after Kadam filed a complaint. Authorities condemned the act as a serious offence endangering community safety and property.
Escalation of Marital Conflict
The roots of this violent act lie in ongoing domestic discord. Tanaji Gaikwad, originally from Sonijwala, has been married to Dnyaneshwari, daughter of Nanbhau Kadam, for eight years. The couple has three children, but persistent physical abuse allegedly led Dnyaneshwari to leave her marital home and seek refuge with her brother Asaram Kadam in Kadamwadi.
Reports indicate a history of escalating tensions, with multiple formal complaints filed by Dnyaneshwari for physical and mental harassment at the Yusuf Vadgaon Police Station. Two weeks before the arson, Gaikwad reportedly threatened his in-laws, warning that he would kill Asaram Kadam if his wife was not returned to him.
Police Investigation and Community Concerns
Following the arson, the Kej Police Station swiftly initiated an investigation and is actively searching for Gaikwad, who remains at large. Police officials highlighted the importance of addressing such domestic disputes before they manifest in criminal acts.
Community members expressed shock and distress, emphasising the troubling trend of personal conflicts escalating into violent public acts that threaten not only families but entire neighbourhoods. Local leaders stressed the need for stronger preventive mechanisms and community support to protect vulnerable individuals from domestic abuse and to reduce flare-ups of violence.
The Logical Indian’s Perspective
The incident at Takli Shivara tragically illustrates how unchecked domestic issues can escalate into destructive violence impacting families and communities alike. Violence is never a solution; it only erodes trust, safety, and livelihoods.
The Logical Indian urges society to prioritise open dialogue, empathy, and early intervention in family conflicts. Providing accessible support services and strengthening legal protections against abuse are crucial to preventing such tragedies.
