Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid an unannounced visit to the Adampur Air Force Station near Jalandhar, Punjab, in the early hours of Tuesday, 13 May 2025. The visit came in the wake of heightened India-Pakistan tensions following Operation Sindoor, a series of Indian airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Modi interacted with Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel and senior officials, commending their bravery and professionalism in repelling recent Pakistani retaliatory strikes. While Pakistan claimed to have targeted Adampur and three other IAF bases, Indian authorities and independent satellite imagery confirmed there was no significant damage.
The visit underscores India’s commitment to its armed forces and comes days after a ceasefire agreement between the two countries.
A Special Experience at the Frontline
Arriving at Adampur Air Force Station at dawn, Prime Minister Modi was accompanied by Air Chief Marshal A P Singh and other senior defence officials. The Prime Minister spent nearly an hour on the base, engaging directly with fighter pilots, technical staff, and ground crew who played a crucial role during the recent escalation.
Sharing images and reflections on social media platform X, PM Modi described the visit as a “very special experience,” adding, “India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”
Air Chief Marshal Singh briefed the Prime Minister on the operational readiness of the base and the effectiveness of India’s integrated air defence systems, which successfully intercepted and neutralised attempted strikes by Pakistan. “Our air warriors have shown exemplary courage and professionalism in the face of adversity,” Singh stated, reaffirming the IAF’s preparedness to defend the nation.
Operation Sindoor: A Turning Point in Regional Security
The backdrop to Modi’s visit is Operation Sindoor, launched by India on 7 May 2025 in response to a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. Indian forces targeted nine terror camps across the border, reportedly eliminating over 100 militants.
Pakistan responded with retaliatory missile attacks on Indian air bases, including Adampur, Pathankot, Ambala, and Srinagar, claiming to have inflicted significant damage. However, Indian defence officials, supported by independent satellite imagery from international agencies, confirmed that all critical infrastructure at these bases remained intact.
The swift and coordinated response by Indian air defence systems was widely credited for minimising the impact. Following intense diplomatic engagement, a ceasefire agreement was reached on 10 May, though Indian authorities have made it clear that military operations could resume if provoked.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Adampur is more than a symbolic gesture-it is a reaffirmation of the nation’s trust in its armed forces and a tribute to the men and women who stand on the frontline of national security. While the courage and professionalism of our air warriors deserve the highest praise.
The Logical Indian believes that the ultimate goal must be lasting peace and stability in the region. We must continue to support our armed forces while also advocating for dialogue, empathy, and diplomatic solutions to resolve conflicts. As we reflect on these recent events, how can we, as a society, encourage both robust national security and a genuine pursuit of peace and coexistence with our neighbours?
