A masked intruder, reportedly armed with a pistol, broke into Bengaluru’s Geometry Pub in Rajajinagar in the early hours of Monday, 12 May 2025. The incident unfolded around 3:30 AM, when the pub was closed to the public. According to police reports, the intruder, dressed in black and wearing gloves and a mask, entered through a rear door and threatened staff with what appeared to be a pistol.
The suspect then locked the doors, disabled several CCTV cameras, and made off with ₹50,000 from the cash drawer. The pub’s security guard, who was on duty, managed to lock himself inside a room and immediately alerted authorities via the 112 emergency helpline. Responding within minutes, police cordoned off the area and launched a large-scale search operation.
“A private security guard at Geometry Pub called 112. He reported that an unknown person had entered through the back door of the pub, showing a weapon and scaring the staff,” confirmed Additional Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar Vikash. DCP (North) Saiful Adavat stated, “It is believed the suspect escaped, possibly through the kitchen or another exit, before our teams arrived.”
Security Lapses and Ongoing Investigation
The police response was unprecedented, with SWAT commandos, bomb squads, and drone surveillance deployed to search the three-storey building and surrounding areas. Roadblocks were set up and the premises were thoroughly combed for over four hours. Despite these efforts, the suspect was not found, leading investigators to believe he had fled before police arrived.
Initial CCTV footage captured movement on the upper floors, but later recordings were missing, likely due to deliberate tampering. The pub’s manager confirmed that ₹50,000 had been taken from the cash counter. Police are now analysing external CCTV footage from nearby establishments and interviewing staff to determine whether the suspect had inside information about the pub’s layout and cash storage.
Authorities have heightened security in Rajajinagar and neighbouring Malleswaram, and have appealed for public cooperation. “We urge citizens not to panic. The situation is under control, and we are pursuing multiple leads,” said DCP Adavat.
