The alleged victim’s nephew is seen in the video, terrified, as the cops brutally thrash his uncle.
The two policemen have been suspended, and a departmental probe has been initiated after the video went viral on social media. The reasons that could have possibly led to the shocking incident continue to remain unclear.
Some reports suggest that Rinku Pandey, the victim, was riding a motorcycle when he was caught in a scuffle with the police personnel on Thursday afternoon. The incident was filmed on a mobile phone by a witness that shows sub-inspector Virendra Mishra and head constable Mahendra Prasad beating up Pandey and verbally abusing him.
One of the policemen even sits on the man who is thrown at the ground and is later pulled by his hair. The child also seems to have injured his hand in the middle of the incident.
“If it is my fault, you can lock me up in jail,” Pandey can be heard saying this to the policemen in the video.
Towards the end of the video, the man refuses to give the key of his motorcycle as the policemen try to snatch it from him. “Tell me, what is my fault?” he asks them.
