Urination in public could lead to serious embarrassment, why? UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) intends to capture the photographs and videos of the people pissing in public and making them celebrities on the internet! In an attempt to minimize public urination the photographs and the videos of people will be recorded by the CCTV cameras and posted on youtube. Seems to be a fair deal, you urinate in public, your video of urination will go public.

Carried under the umbrella of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, this campaign aims to spread awareness on health hazards due to open urination.

“Our aim is to reform those who shun public toilets and pee in the open. After all, it is for the betterment of all. We have already designed massive flex boards, which would be put up at all bus stations, urging passengers to desist from peeing in the open. If the practice continues, we have no option but to take the pictures of habitual offenders, including passengers, attendants and vendors, and uploading them on social media. Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene at bus stations is our foremost priority,”  the regional manager of UPSRTC, Bareilly region, Prabhakar Mishra told The Times of India.

The Logical Indian commends UPSRTC for innovating in ending the menace of public urination. Leveraging various forms of media and digital platforms can improve governance as evident here. We request all the state and central government innovate in their own means and leverage the power of social media to its advantage.
