Jaipur has been placed under heightened security ahead of a large-scale anti-encroachment drive being carried out by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) along Nandpuri Road in the city’s Malviya Nagar area.
More than 3,000 police personnel have been deployed and internet services have been temporarily suspended in parts of the city as authorities prepare to implement a long-pending road-widening project aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving urban infrastructure.
Officials have described the measures as precautionary and necessary to maintain law and order during the operation, which is expected to affect structures identified within the proposed road expansion corridor.
While civic authorities argue that the exercise is essential for planned development and public convenience, residents, property owners and business operators likely to be impacted have raised concerns commonly associated with such drives, including livelihood disruptions, compensation, and rehabilitation.
