Haryana – The health minister of Haryana while addressing the issue of illicit liquor being sold in villages confronted the SP of Fatehabad, Ms Sangeetha and branded  the police being ineffective besides alleging conscious complacency of Police in the sale of illicit liquor in the villages of Haryana. That was not all, the confrontation got nasty and the Minister ordered the SP Ms Sangeetha to leave the place.

A moment where most would succumb to Ministers Diktat, SP Ms Sangeetha stood her ground and refused to leave the place. She had politely reasoned and strongly defended the police and the measures taken to curb illicit liquor that includes the filing of a record number of cases, under the Excise act. It was this reasoning which irked the minister and then of course patriarchy took over where the women SP was ordered to leave the place.

The SP has vowed he would not attend any meeting in the presence of SP Sangeetha, however the police department had firmly backed the SP and condemned the ministers conduct.

TLI commends SP Sangeetha for holding her ground on sound reasons, The culture of Ministers condescending on Police and bureaucrats ought to change for good where both should work together and solve society’s issues by consultation and not confrontation.
