Regardless of where you’re from, what you believe in or who you voted for, one thing we can all agree on is that India is a world in itself. The diversity in India is staggering, and activity always buzzing. It is a vibrant country, known as much for its differences as it is for its unity. As such, few works of art can possibly reflect the dynamic nature of everyday Indian life.
American chef and filmmaker Daniel Klein took up the challenge of presenting the vastness of India in a 4-minute documentary. For 3 weeks he travelled across India, meeting enthusiastic people, visiting famous monuments and filming the world of India.
What transpired was a video that, to be fair, does accomplish picturing the energy of India. Smiling vendors, chatty chat-sellers, busy pedestrians, flamboyant schoolchildren, aloof cows, suspicious stray dogs, endless traffic jams, roadside cricket, hardworking farmers, merry wedding processions, weary train passengers – the video has it all. The main content of the video is the one thing that all Indians have in common: sensitive taste buds – an addiction to different kinds of food. This is perfectly depicted in the video.
The video would’ve been more complete had the filmmakers included urban India with its skyscrapers and entrepreneurs. Either way, this video is a fitting tribute to the Indian experience.
