[Watch] Chennai Floods: PM Narendra Modi Announces Rs 1000 Crore In Relief

After taking an aerial survey of the devastated areas of Chennai, PM Narendra Modi has announced an immediate relief of Rs 1000 crore to Tamil Nadu.

Narendra Modi even discussed the situation with Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha. He said this is in addition to the Rs. 940 crore which were released by the Centre earlier.

The centre described the situation alarming. Narendra Modi was deeply pained by the devastation and said that the centre stands by the people of Tamil Nadu.

The disasters have left over 269 dead and nearly 5000 stranded people in the marooned city have been rescued.
