Promise Of A Lifetime: This Pilot Gave The Gift Of Air Travel To All Grandparents Of His Village

Vikas Jyani from Sarangpur village, Hisar District in Haryana, dreamt of becoming a pilot and has now achieved the dream. People tend to move away from their childhood dreams as they grow, but Vikas differs from those. What could anyone do to share joy and success? Deliver sweet parcels at the doorstep or host a party night with friends and family?

Jyani did something that won many hearts and also received an overwhelming response from the villagers. He decided to arrange for air travel for all the villagers aged above 70. Among the twenty-two people, most had their first flight experience after Jyani’s initiative from his earnings.

Jyani arranged the travel from New Delhi to Amritsar. The trip extended to Wagah border, Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh.

The grandfathers and grandmothers were elated to fly for the first time. Vikas’s father Mahendra Jayani, a senior bank manager proudly said that his son’s gesture is no less than a pilgrimage. Mahendra said, “He fulfilled his dream and that’s the most important thing for me. All youth should follow Vikas’ example and we should all respect our elders”, as reported by Times Of India.

Happy Flight

The passengers included 90-year-old Bimla, who said, “Many people make promises to elderly but (he) kept his word.” She was glad to be on her first air travel and said that she never even imagined sitting in a plane.

Two septuagenarians Ramamuti and Kankari Devi stated that it was the best movement of their life. They even thanked their co-passengers for helping whenever the senior citizens needed any kind of assistance.

The Logical Indian Take

As Bimla said, how many of us keep our promises made to elders? Be a festival visit to grandparent’s home or even a random visit, and we tend to forget the ones who have showered us with unconditional love. As we grow up, we move to different cities for education, employment and we sometimes forget our roots. The responsibility is in the hands of the youth to take care of those who presented us with bedtime stories and taught us about life. Grandparents are an integral part of a happy childhood and shouldn’t we be a part of their old age?

The Logical Indian applauds the heartwarming gesture of the newly commissioned pilot.
