[Watch] A Tearful Appeal Of An Indian Driver For Rescue From Cruelty In Saudi Arabia
The Logical Indian
March 16th, 2016
From March 14, a video shared on YouTube has been doing the rounds of social media. The video shows Abdul Sattar Makandar, an Indian working as a driver for AL Suroor United Group in Saudi Arabia sharing his agonising story of how he is being ill-treated by his employers in Saudi Arabia. He is seen appealing to a person in India to save him and bring him back to India from the cruelty he is facing. Makandar who hails from Karnataka, has been stuck in Saudi Arabia for the last three years. His employers are not allowing him to go back to India and he is not being given salary and sufficient food.
This is not for the first time that any Indian is being tortured to such an extent. In December last year, a video surfaced of three men from Kerala, being brutally tortured at the hands of their Saudi Arabian employer. There are close to 9 million Indian migrant workers in Saudi Arabia . Often these workers have to face severe human rights abuse. Their passports are confiscated, wages remain unpaid and work hours stretch for 15 to 18 hours.
In most of the cases, the workers are deceived from India with false hope of opportunities in abroad. Tempted by such offers, these workers land up into this modern form of slavery in Gulf nations.
The Logical Indian is sharing this video in the hope that this video reaches the government or citizen’s who could help in anyway perhaps even by spreading the word.
