“Will I Be Safe,” A Young Schoolgirl Questions Police While Speaking About Unnao Rape

The Logical Indian

August 2nd, 2019

The developments in the Unnao gangrape case has sent shockwaves across the country. The survivor and her family have been suffering from the last two years. In the last two years, her father, two aunts and key witness have died in highly suspicious circumstances. The survivor and her lawyer have been critically injured in an allegedly planned accident.

It was only on August 1, 2019, that BJP expelled the accused party leader Kuldeep Sengar. With the situation being so grim, a brave schoolgirl did what most adults have not been able to do. In an event at the Anand Bhawan School at Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, Additional Superintendent of Police S. Gautam was giving a lecture as part of police security week on July 31. One of the students Muniba Kidwai, an XI class stood up and asked some tough questions of Unnao case. Other children in the audience encouraged her with thunderous clapping. She asked, “How will you guarantee my safety?”

Indeed a question we all must ask the authorities.
