Tea workers in West Bengal’s northern districts have been underpaid and grossly neglected for years. With a wage as low as Rs 159 a day, survival for these workers is next to impossible. In a three-day-strike, the workers demanded to increase their minimum wages from Rs 159 to Rs 239 a day.
