Mumbai:  This video sparked outrage where a young woman is seen getting slapped repeatedly, pushed around and dragged by policewomen over an argument on the road. Reportedly the incident took place at Lalbaug cha raja. Lalbaug is one of the most crowded Ganesh Mandals in the city. The video has provoked anger because women in uniform are seen teaming up and thrashing the defenseless girl.

Whatever be the situation, this conduct by the Mumbai police is highly objectionable. We request Mumbai Police to kindly look into the matter. When someone causes a disturbance you arrest them, you don’t beat them. That’s why we have the law. As police officers they should have arrested her instead of resorting to violence.

We request everyone not to reach to any conclusion as we have only one sided version of the story. As soon as there is an update on the story, we will let you know.

Update On 01 October 2015:

As per a report published on India.com, a new video has surfaced which shows the girl, identified as Nandani Goswami, damaging the barricades at Lalbaugcha Raja. In the video, Nandani Goswami is seen kicking barricades put at Lalbaugcha Raja. After watching the video, you will realise that it was Nandani who provoked the female constables to take harsh steps against her.
