In a harrowing incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, a 30-year-old man, already accused of killing his 21-day-old infant son three years ago, has now allegedly murdered his 55-year-old mother. The accused, identified as Pramod, reportedly strangled and bludgeoned his mother with a brick following a heated argument over being served food.

The local police, led by the Manduadih Station House Officer (SHO), arrived at the scene in Bhullanpur promptly after receiving reports of the violence. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Law enforcement officials have since taken the accused into custody, and a fresh investigation has been launched into the repeat offender’s motives and mental state.

A Pattern of Brutality in Bhullanpur

The grisly details of the crime emerged on Monday when neighbours reported a violent commotion at the family residence. According to police statements, Pramod attacked his mother, Munni Devi, in a fit of rage after she delayed serving him a meal. “The accused hit the victim repeatedly with a brick and kept strangling her until she stopped breathing,” a senior official from the Manduadih police station noted.

This latest act of violence has sent shockwaves through the local community, as many recalled the 2023 incident where Pramod was arrested for the death of his newborn son.

Despite the previous charges, he was out on bail, a fact that has now raised urgent questions regarding the monitoring of violent offenders within the judicial system.

Echoes of a Dark Past

This is not the first time Pramod has faced allegations of extreme domestic violence. In early 2023, he was apprehended for the murder of his 21-day-old son, a case that initially highlighted his volatile temperament and alleged history of substance abuse.

Reports from that time suggest a similar pattern of unprovoked aggression. Family members and acquaintances described him as a man with a “short fuse” who frequently clashed with his mother over financial and household matters.

The transition from killing his own child to murdering the woman who gave him life underscores a catastrophic failure in intervention and rehabilitation, leaving a trail of broken family ties in its wake.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This tragic loss of life is a somber reminder of the deep-seated issues surrounding domestic violence and the lack of adequate mental health or rehabilitative support for repeat offenders. At The Logical Indian, we believe that peace and harmony within a household are the foundation of a healthy society.

It is disheartening to see that a man previously accused of infanticide was in a position to commit such a heinous act again. We must advocate for a more robust legal and social framework that identifies high-risk individuals and ensures they receive the necessary psychological intervention before another life is lost to senseless rage.
