A former tech employee in Noida has alleged that members of his company’s Human Resources (HR) team physically assaulted him on 19 September after he inquired about severance pay following sudden termination.

The incident, which took place at a major MNC’s office, resulted in a police complaint supported by video evidence and has sparked debate on workplace rights after the victim recounted his ordeal on Reddit. The police have confirmed an ongoing investigation, while the company has faced mounting scrutiny from the public and social media users.

Account Goes Viral, Public Reacts

The ex-employee documented the events in a detailed Reddit post titled, “Got terminated by TCS, then assaulted by HR when I asked about severance – what should I do?” According to his account, repeated attempts to contact HR via email and phone for clarification were ignored. When he visited the office in person, he was told, “We won’t reply. You are terminated. Fight wherever you want.”

As he tried to record the exchange on his phone, a member of the HR team allegedly shouted for his phone to be confiscated, leading to him being physically restrained and his right hand twisted—a moment he described as humiliating and painful. The Reddit post quickly gained traction, prompting an outpouring of suggestions for legal recourse and public solidarity.

Police Probe and Company Silence

After the alleged assault, the former employee approached the local police at the Sector-168 post, submitting a written complaint and video evidence of the incident. The police confirmed receipt of his complaint and stated the matter was under investigation.

Attempts by law enforcement to have HR representatives present at the police station were reportedly refused by the company, leaving the ex-employee with limited recourse and no severance or official response from his former employer. In the absence of a company statement, much of the discourse has centred on the employee’s version, further fuelling online debates about workplace ethics and accountability.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This distressing episode underscores the need for transparent, humane, and lawful handling of workplace grievances. The Logical Indian stands firmly by the principles of due process, dignity at work, and the prompt redressal of employee concerns.

The industry must introspect and establish trustworthy systems for fair dialogue and constructive resolution, rather than allowing silence and confrontation to prevail.
